History landing at airport

Second World War history will be landing in Kamloops on Canada Day.

As part of the Flying Legends of Victory Tour, a pair of bombers will be at the Kamloops airport from July 1-7.

The planes will then be in Penticton July 8-14.

The B-17G Bomber “Sentimental Journey” and the B-25J Bomber “Maid in the Shade” will be on display.

Built in 1944, the B-25 “Maid in the Shade” was developed by North American Aviation and used mainly as a low altitude strafe and skip bomber. Nearly 10,000 B-25s were produced and the B-25 Mitchell “Maid in the Shade” is one of 34 still flying today.

The B-17 Bomber is a heavy bomber bristling with armament. They earned a deadly reputation and were legendary for their ability to return home after taking brutal poundings.

Not only can people view the planes, they can go for a flight in them by booking online.
