Freeride Days set to rip

The best mountain bike athletes in the world are coming back to the Okanagan for the Big White Invitational Slopestyle competition.

Close to 5,000 people came last year to watch the best of the best battle it out, and the event was a huge success. This year, organizers wanted to do more.

Freeride Days will span four epic days July 11-14, and will be jam packed with events and family fun.

Starting on the Thursday, the FMB Bronze Open Slopestyle event will kick things off. This is where up and coming riders slug it out for highly sought after FMB points in hopes to move up the ranks to the Gold event.

Friday, the industry expo, food trucks, and beer gardens will open as spectators begin to pour in to watch the inaugural Women’s Slopestyle event, the Gold Slopestyle qualifier, and the Best Trick event, presented by ODI. There will be back to back action from morning until evening.

For younger racers, Saturday will feature the Shimano Kids Race in the morning before things get serious in the afternoon. The best of the best Gold level Slopestyle riders will face-off in the Big White Invitational Slopestyle Presented by Five Ten and Hosted by Tom van Steenbergen.

The party doesn’t end there as the Whip-Off presented by Clif Bar keeps the energy flowing. This jam style event is all about good style and great times where all the athletes will session a jump trying to impress the crowd with their ability to get sideways.

Have a GoPro? Willing to film? The Sick Edit Showdown will be showcased on Saturday night at the official after party. Teams of up to five are encouraged to film their weekend at Bike Big White and submit a 60-second edit to be judged and played at the event.

Another inaugural event for Freeride Days takes place Sunday, when the fastest, and flowiest, riders will race their way down the Joker trail in the Air DH race presented by Fox Racing. The Air DH is open to the public, and you can register here. Will it be you in the hot seat?

All the events are free to watch, and accommodation packages are available for those who want to stay for the whole weekend.
