Canada’s main stock index shows a moderate gain in morning trade.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 93.74 points at 16,195.83 after 90 minutes of trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 249.67 points at 26,178.35. The S&P 500 index was up 24.07 points at 2,858.47, while the Nasdaq composite was up 78.69 points at 7,808.01.
The Canadian dollar traded at 74.97 cents US, up from an average of 74.83 cents US on Friday.
The May crude contract was up 98 cents at US$61.12 per barrel and the May natural gas contract was up 5.1 cents at $2.71 per mmBTU.
The June gold contract was up $1.20 at US$1,297.30 an ounce and the May copper contract was up one cent at US$2.95 a pound.
